Who we are

SIPMILE is a running app developed and operated by SIPMILE (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are based in Berlin, Germany. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the SIPMILE mobile application and website.

What data we collect

Account data

When you create a SIPMILE account, we may collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (or a token from a third-party sign-in provider such as Apple or Google).

Run and activity data

When you use SIPMILE to track a run, we collect data including distance, duration, pace, and timestamps. If you use coffee-run features, we may also store your selected café destination.

Location data

With your permission, SIPMILE accesses your device's location to provide route tracking, map display, and nearby café suggestions. Location data is used in real-time and stored as part of your run history. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.

HealthKit data (iOS)

If you grant permission, SIPMILE may read from and write to Apple HealthKit. This may include workout data, distance, and active energy. We do not sell HealthKit data to third parties, use it for advertising, or share it outside of the app. HealthKit data is handled in compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines.

Subscription and payment data

If you subscribe to SIPMILE, payment processing is handled through Apple's App Store. We do not directly collect or store your payment card details. We may receive subscription status and transaction identifiers from Apple.

Usage and analytics data

We may collect anonymised usage data such as feature interactions, app sessions, and crash reports to help us improve the app. This may be collected through third-party analytics services.

How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • Provide and operate the SIPMILE app and its features
  • Personalise your running plans and track your progress
  • Display run history, streaks, and achievements
  • Suggest nearby cafés and build coffee-run routes
  • Process subscriptions and manage your account
  • Improve app performance and fix issues
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Send essential service communications (e.g. account-related emails)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

Legal basis

We process your personal data based on: your consent (e.g. location access, HealthKit), the performance of our contract with you (providing the app), our legitimate interests (improving the service, preventing abuse), and legal obligations where applicable.

Data sharing

We may share your data with third-party service providers who help us operate the app, such as cloud infrastructure providers, analytics services, and crash-reporting tools. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and only process it on our behalf.

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside of your country of residence, including countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where this is the case, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.

Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Your rights

Children's privacy

SIPMILE is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of SIPMILE after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
